Part of the prestigious Riu group of hotels, the 3 star Hotel Riu Tropicana has an enviable position overlooking the Cala Domingos beach, in the popular resort of Calas de Majorca on the picturesque east coast of Majorca. The hotel is approximately 70km east of the capital Palma and the Son Sant Joan International airport, and around 2km from the Calas de Majorca resort centre where you will find a selection of restaurants, bars and shops.

Built in 1989 and extensively renovated during the winter of 1995, the modern low rise Hotel Riu Tropicana has a total of 356 guest rooms that are distributed between a 1 storey main building and a further 2 storey annexe block, which are both then set amidst almost 100,000m2 of Mediterranean style gardens and sun terraces around a large central pool area overlooking the sea.

All guest rooms at the hotel are either air conditioned or centrally heated according to the season and come equipped with a fully fitted "en suite" bathroom with shower, along with a direct dial telephone, satellite television, safety deposit box available for rental, and either a balcony or terrace, many of which have exterior views over the pool and garden area towards the sea. In addition to the above features, all guest rooms at the hotel are also provided with a maid service undertaking a change of towels as required and change of bed linen once a week.

Guest facilities on offer includes a 24 hour reception area with currency exchange services and both luggage and courtesy rooms for late departures, along with public internet terminals, a games room, laundry and medical services, an air conditioned à la carte restaurant, offering a choice of traditional Spanish, international and vegetarian menus, and both lounge and pool bars.

Sporting and leisure facilities available to guests include a large 300m2 outdoor freshwater swimming pool for adults, with a separate children's section, and spacious sun terraces and gardens which are furnished with loungers and parasols. Other leisure facilities includes a children's playground and mini club, along with 3 hard surface tennis courts, a beach volleyball court, and both pool and table tennis tables.

The Hotel Riu Tropicana also provides a seasonal programme of daytime sporting activities, organised each day by their resident animation team, featuring aerobics, archery and various water sports, as well as evening entertainment with a children's mini disco which is then followed by either live music, cabaret or other professional shows several times each week.
