Built in 1972 and extensively refurbished during the winter of 2002, the modern low rise Hotel Borneo has a total of 280 guest rooms, including 252 double rooms and a further 28 singles, which are built over 5 floors and set amidst almost 700m2 of well kept Mediterranean style gardens and sun terraces around a large central pool area.

All guest rooms at the hotel are either air conditioned or centrally heated according to the season and come equipped with a fully fitted "en suite" bathroom with shower, hairdryer and magnifying mirror, along with a satellite television, direct dial telephone, safety deposit box available for rental, fridge and either a balcony or terrace, many of which have exterior views over the pool and garden towards the sea.

In addition to the above features, 10 rooms at the Hotel Sumba have also been specially adapted for disabled guests, and all rooms are provided with a maid service undertaking a change of towels as required and change of bed linen twice a week.

Guest facilities on offer includes a 24 hour reception area with currency exchange services, and both luggage and courtesy rooms for late departures, along with a games room, an air conditioned buffet style restaurant and snack bar, offering a choice of traditional Spanish, international and vegetarian menus, public internet terminals, laundry and medical services and both lounge and pool bars.

Sporting and leisure facilities available to guests includes a large outdoor freshwater swimming pool for adults, with a separate children's splash pool, and spacious sun terraces and gardens which are furnished with loungers and parasols. Other leisure facilities includes a smaller indoor heated swimming pool with sauna, Jacuzzi and gymnasium, along with a children's playground and fully air-conditioned mini club.

The Hotel Sumba also provides a seasonal programme of daytime sporting activities, organised each day by their resident animation team, featuring petanque, water polo and aerobics, as well as evening entertainment with a children's mini disco which is then followed by either live music, cabaret or other professional shows several times each week.
