Built in 1972 and extensively renovated during the winter of 2000, the modern Hotel Sol Mastines - Chinuahuas complex has a total of 512 guest rooms, including 263 standard twin rooms and a further 9 Junior Suites in the 12 storey Sol Mastines building, and a further 240 standard double rooms in the smaller 9 storey Sol Chihuahuas block. All of which are then set amidst almost 25,000m2 of landscaped Mediterranean style gardens and sun terraces around a large central pool area overlooking the sea.

All guest rooms at the hotel have a ceiling fan, and come equipped with a fully fitted "en suite" bathroom with shower, along with a direct dial telephone, satellite television, safety deposit box available for rental, and either a balcony or terrace, many of which have panoramic sea views. In addition to the above features, all guest rooms at the hotel are also provided with a maid service undertaking a change of towels as required and change of bed linen once a week.

Guest facilities on offer includes a 24 hour reception area with currency exchange services and both luggage and courtesy rooms with showers for late departures, along with public internet terminals, a games room, laundry and medical services, an air conditioned buffet style restaurant and snack bar with show-cooking, offering a choice of traditional Spanish, international and vegetarian menus, and both lounge and pool bars.

Sporting and leisure facilities available to guests include a choice of 2 large outdoor freshwater swimming pools for adults, with a separate children's section, and spacious sun terraces and gardens which are furnished with loungers and parasols. Other leisure facilities include a smaller indoor heated pool, as well as a children's playground, 2 hard surface tennis courts, a multi sports activity area for volleyball and five-a-side football etc, and both pool and table tennis tables.

The Hotel Sol Mastines - Chinuahuas also provides a seasonal programme of daytime sporting activities, organised each day by their resident animation team, featuring aerobics, archery and various water sports, as well as evening entertainment with a children's mini disco which is then followed by either live music, cabaret or other professional shows several times each week.

During the summer months, the Hotel Sol Mastines - Chinuahuas is especially popular with families travelling with young children, and during this time, alongside the numerous adult activities, the resident Sol Animation team also provide themed children's clubs with the Club 4 being suitable for 1 to 4 years, Club 8 for 5 to 8 year olds, Club 13 for 9 to 13 years and the Teen Club from 14 to 17 years. Guests are advised that some activities will carry a supplementary charge payable locally.
